This was the first chair I upholstered. One of a pair of old Parker Knoll wing chairs, they were in a very sorry state.

Dark Sacred Night – before
I wanted it to give the feeling of the “dark sacred night” that Louis Armstrong sang of in What a Wonderful World.
The legs were originally re-touched and polished with shellac but they didn’t match the fabric so I ended up flocking them. Not only was this a fascinating process but also it really brought the chair together in design terms and really showed off the contours of the design. I put blue LEDs on the underside (a bit like one of those boy racer cars that looks like it’s just landed from outer space) to give it a bit of a modern twist.
